About Vestfold County Library

Developments from books to web-based information and experience dissemination creates new tasks for libraries. Function as a meeting place is as important as the traditional lending business. Libraries should act as a cultural intermediary and learning arena for all groups in society.

Vestfold County Library is a competence and development center for libraries in Vestfold.
Tasks:
- To develop the libraries' work for children and young people, for example, to stimulate reading
- Developing good cooperative solutions between libraries
- Measures which can promote the libraries in the region
- Digital presentation of local and national culture
- Development of libraries in Vestfold through courses, meetings and study tours

We work with many exciting projects in different areas both locally in the Vestfold and at national level. Of the national project, we have Norwegian Library in Second Life and Culture Network Norway. At the local level we prioritize the work on a joint library plan for Vestfold Libraries, a plan that will be completed during 2010. From 2009 we have taken over responsibility for Literature Week with more than 50 events throughout Vestfold county. For complete overview, see projects.
